Kelly Cook Harmon is a painter and adjunct instructor living and working in Memphis, TN. She received her BFA from Memphis College of Art in 2015 and her MFA from the University of Memphis in 2018. Her work has been exhibited in Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, and Colorado. In Harmon’s drawings and paintings, ambiguous narratives are suggested through the observation and illustration of everyday passerbys in her travels to cities like Rome, Miami, and Mexico City, The heads and bodies are stacked on top of each other, creating a single, organic mass of fabric, hair and skin for the viewer to sift through. Through these works, Kelly Cook Harmon explores the idea of a place in terms of its people rather than its landscape.
